Founders' Fund
The Northern California Planned Giving Council was founded by remarkable individuals who over decades have made tremendous contributions to the Council. One of those individuals was Phil Murphy. Sadly, Phil passed away in December 2017.
Phil was a Convener of the Every So Often Club. ESOC, as it was called then, was NCPGC’s predecessor organization -- which itself preceded even the national organization! When ESOC formed its first official Board in 1988, Phil was a member. He served as its President in 1992-1993. He contributed to the creation of both our annual conference and the Planned Giving Basics Course, for which he was an instructor every year through the fall of 2017. He was also the first recipient of the Council’s Phil Hoffmire Service Award. Phil will be remembered in the planned giving community not only for his contributions to this Council, his integrity, and the organizations he helped to thrive, but also for his inspiration and for his impact on his colleagues and on future generations of planned giving practitioners. To honor him, the Council established the Founders’ Fund. The fund will carry on Phil’s legacy by supporting our work - Phil’s life work - of educating planned giving professionals. If you would like to contribute to ongoing NCPGC programming and events in memory of Phil, please donate by clicking the Donate button. |
