Your Donor Has Died and You're a Beneficiary: Now What?! By: Aviva Boedecker, JD Consultant and Sandra Price Partner, Sideman & Bancroft LLP What your charity should do to ensure it receives all of the bequest it is entitled to. You've worked hard to get bequest commitments and expectancies. Now you have to make sure the money actually arrives! This session will address post-mortem administration, including: rights and responsibilities of charitable beneficiaries; what to expect during the will/trust administration and protecting the charity's interests; collecting retirement plan and insurance benefits; terminating life income and retained life estates; sticky issues; and when to hire an attorney. We will walk you through the whole process and answer questions that we commonly hear from donors and advisors. You will learn about the advantages of contributing complex assets, as well as strategies for navigating the exit timing, valuation, tax and unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) issues, and other potential risks. Legislative Update and Things to Consider in an Election Year By: Matt Petroski Partner, Armanino Matt is going to discuss some recent and current legislation updates that may impact the space including the possible sunsetting of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act along with the SECURE Act 2.0. He will also mention a brief update on DAFs, the Employee Retention Credit, and Green Energy Credits.
