How Does Membership Work?

There are two options of membership:

  1. Local-Only membership: You may join the Northern California Planned Giving Council, or

Local (NCPGC)

The Northern California Planned Giving Council sponsors several educational events each year.  Please view the Calendar of Events page for information on the following offerings:

  • Five luncheon meetings each year with speakers addressing a wide variety of topics affecting charitable gift planners. Meetings are held in San Francisco at the Banker's Club in January, March, June, September and November - usually on the second Thursday of the month.

  • Five Primer Programs for those newer to the field. Programs are held before each luncheon meeting.

  • Masters Programs for advanced gift planning professionals.

  • Basics Course - a six-part basics course which includes 18 hours of instruction from experienced planned giving practitioners in the Bay Area.

  • Five Virtual Seminars presented by nationally known planned giving professionals.

  • Annual Planned Giving Conference offering Advanced, Intermediate, and Fundamentals tracks and featuring nationally-known speakers. The Conference is usually held in the Spring.

Members receive discounted registration to all programs - including the Annual Conference. There are frequent networking opportunities with other gift planners and allied professionals at luncheon meetings and the annual conference.

The Council also publishes an e-newsletter and encourages participation on committees including government and community relations.

National (PPP)

The Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) (formerly National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG)), is composed of more than 100 local councils. PPP provides several benefits:

  • A discount on the PPP (national) conference

  • A subscription to The Journal of Gift Planning, a quarterly in-depth publication which features nationally prominent authors

  • Monthly newsletter, highlighting such information as late-breaking news on legislation in Congress and Internal Revenue Service announcements

  • The PPP's annual directory of members and occasional complimentary special reports.

  • In addition, PPP serves as a resource for its members nationwide. This includes hosting the popular charitable gift listserve Gift-PL (an e-mail list) and promoting legislation favorable to charitable giving on a national scale, among other projects.

PPP handles dues collection for membership in both the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and also the local NCPGCouncil dues. For a 12-month period, dues for both PPP and the NCPGCouncil are $195 per year.  PPP and NCPGCouncil membership are on an individual basis and are not transferable.

A “local only” dues option is available for $85 for 12 months to join the local Northern California Planned Giving Council. Local only membership includes discounts on all programs and the annual conference; it also includes an invitation to the members-only Masters Programs. To join the Council, either in conjunction with PPP or the local Northern California council only, visit www.PPPNet.org, select Membership, and then “Northern California Planned Giving Council.”

We look forward to having you participate as a member of the Northern California Planned Giving Council.
