How Does Membership Work?
There are two options of membership in the Northern California Planned
Giving Council (NCPGCouncil):
1) as a Local only member of the NCPGCouncil
2) as a member of both the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG)
and the local NCPGCouncil
What are the Benefits of Membership?
Local
The Northern California Planned Giving Council sponsors five luncheon
meetings each year with speakers addressing a wide variety of topics
affecting charitable gift planners. Meetings are held in San Francisco
at the Ferry Building's World Trade Center Club in January, March, July,
September and November - usually on the second Thursday of the month.
The Council offers two Masters Programs for advanced gift planning
professionals, and at least two Primer Programs for those newer to the
field.
In addition, the Council hosts an Annual Planned Giving Conference
offering both Advanced and Fundamentals tracks and featuring
nationally-known speakers. The Conference is usually held in the Spring
– stay tuned to this website (the Meetings & Events tab) for dates &
details.
Members receive discounted registration to the luncheon meetings and
Annual Conference. There are frequent networking opportunities with
other gift planners and allied professionals at luncheon meetings and
the annual conference
The Council also publishes a newsletter, encourages participation on
committees including government and community relations, and produces a
directory.
National
The National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG), is composed of more
than 109 local councils. NCPG provides several benefits:
- A discount on the National conference
- Monthly newsletter, highlighting such information as late-breaking
news on legislation in Congress and Internal Revenue Service
announcements
- The National Committee's annual directory of members and occasional
complimentary special reports.
- In addition, the National Committee serves as a resource for its
members nationwide. This includes hosting the popular charitable gift listserve Gift-PL (an e-mail list) and promoting legislation favorable
to charitable giving on a national scale, among other projects.
The National Committee on Planned Giving handles dues collection for
membership in both the National Committee on Planned Giving and also the
local Council dues. For a 12-month period, dues for both National and
the Northern California Planned Giving Council are $195 per year.
National benefits include a subscription to The Journal of Gift
Planning, a quarterly in-depth publication which features nationally
prominent authors. NCPG and NCPGC membership is on an individual basis
and is not transferable.
A “local only” dues option is available for $85 for 12 months to join
local Northern California Planned Giving Council. Local only membership
includes discounts on luncheon meetings and the annual conference; it
also includes an invitation to the members-only Masters Programs. To
join the Council, either in conjunction with National or the local
Northern California council only, visit
www.NCPG.org, choose
Membership, and choose the “California Planned Giving Council,
Northern”.
We look forward to having you participate as a member of The Northern
